NALC Pioneer Branch 2 - Our Future
While letter carriers continue to struggle against poor staffing and scheduling practices on the shop floor as well as poor decisions from the federal government which inhibit the Post Office stability and growth, over 90 percent of letter carriers across the country voluntarily choose to join up with the NALC thanks in principle to the hard-work and skill of our stewards in standing up for their coworkers and defending our contract. We are proud of our diverse membership. Women comprise nearly 30 percent of the letter carrier workforce; African-Americans make up 21 percent; Latinos, 12 percent, and while some politicians and media personalities may attempt to divide us on the color of our skin, gender identity, religion, or sexual orientation, the NALC is united and standing strong.
