LCLAA Virtual May Day - "The Impact of COVID-19 on Latinos in the U.S.”
Join LCLAA's Virtual May Day Rally on Friday May 1st, from 3-4pm on LCLAA’s Facebook page for a briefing on the latest report launched by LCLAA and Mijente, “The Impact of COVID-19 on Latinos in the U.S.”
Every year we observe May Day as an opportunity to recognize all workers and their substantial contributions.
Nevertheless, 2020 has thus far redefined the meaning of “essential workers,” underscoring the magnitude and worth of the work carried out by Latino and immigrant workers. COVID-19 has underscored that farmworkers, domestic workers, grocery personnel, home healthcare providers- to name a few- are not only on the frontlines of this pandemic, but that their work is essential to our nation’s supply chain.
Today we honor these women and men who are waging a war against an invisible enemy. Their sacrifice has enabled scores of Americans to stay safe. We pay tribute to Latino and immigrant workers who have lost their lives to this deadly virus, and recognize those who are still fighting.
