Labor Spotlight- Anthony Rainey
Anthony "Tony" Rainey has been a UAW Local 469 Member since starting at Master Lock in 1988. Over the years, Tony served UAW Members in various capacities including Local 469 President/Chairperson and as a Regional Servicing Rep since his appointment to the UAW International Staff in July 2010.
For the last 12.5 years, Tony has serviced Local Unions in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. In 2010, Rainey was appointed to become the Regional Skilled Trades Coordinator and in 2015 he was appointed to Civil and Human Rights Coordinator for the Region as well.
Tony is a proud member of CBTU, APRI, CLUW, and a Silver Life member of NAACP. He has served on many state of WI Apprenticeship Advisory Councils, and Workforce Development Boards, and is currently serving as Treasurer of the Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership. Tony has been a delegate to the Milwaukee Area Labor Council for many years and formerly sat on the Executive Board and COPE Committee.
Brother Rainey believes everyone deserved a second chance and was a fierce advocate for the rights of UAW Members and underserved populations. Rainey has mentored many young people and UAW reps, often without realizing he was teaching a master class.
