AFT Local 212 has a strong, proud history. We will never back down but promise to stay at the forefront of Milwaukee’s labor movement. We are professional, educated and seasoned professionals.
Local 212 members will continue to lead Milwaukee’s progressive movement for working people while advocating for social justice and knocking on doors who support our mission and progressive values.
The 1968-69 strike and the fact that even in the face of Act 10 Local 212 has been able to maintain our influence and advocate for our members shows Local 212’s strength. We worked to establish, and maintain one of the most pro-worker employee handbooks in all of the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).
As members retire, we work to educate new faculty and paraprofessionals about the historical gains made and continued importance of their union. For we stand on the shoulder of those who came before us and we must maintain all that they’ve accomplished. We believe the tide is again turning and people are starting to realize the importance of unions and the role of teachers in our society.
