We are a diverse union, both in sectors and in workforce. We were and always have been involved in the struggle for Civil and Human Rights. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote the ‘I Have a Dream’ speech in our headquarters in Detroit, MI.
Hopefully in 10 years we will be growing and adapting to any changes in the industries where we represent workers, which also makes improvements in the lives of all workers.
There is no one defining victory in what we do. Everyday brings new challenges. Every day we try our best to tackle those challenges and move forward. Some days are more successful than others. Every day we work to make our voice in the workplace stronger.
We are working to educate and build Solidarity in our ranks. The political climate in the country right now has spilled over into some of our worksites and we are working to focus more on our commonalities and less on our differences.
