The IBEW has a good working relationship with our contractors. This has resulted in a successful apprenticeship and continuing education program, a pension that is over 100% funded, and has created a pro-active approach to our industry in the area.
With the advancement of Green Technology, we see our Local immersed in these projects. This can only be accomplished with proper training. Before Green was cool, we as a Local trained in solar and electric vehicle charging. As technologies accelerate, we are able to stay on top of the necessary training through our apprenticeship and in-house Continuing Education departments while accommodating classes at both of our campuses.
With the construction of multiple high rise buildings, and a new arena surrounded by an entertainment district, the Milwaukee skyline will see changes that it hasn’t seen in over 40 years. Work in our area is expected to be good for several years to come.
While the labor movement and our local union are constantly challenged by the evolving economy and developing technologies, it’s a challenge we are ready to meet.
